The News Minute | January 20, 2015 | 06.20 pm IST | Updated 07:20 pmIT service company TCS has revoked a termination order for a pregnant woman working with the company after she moved the Madras High Court against the order. The case which had been filed by the woman against a termination order dated December 22, 2014 was closed by Justice R Subbiah after the counsel for TCS informed him of that the order had been revoked.Justice R Subbiah who closed the case said that since TCS had revoked the termination letter which was the subject matter of the writ petition, he did "not find any reason to keep the writ petition pending further".Dismissing the writ petition as infructuous, he however said that the other issues mentioned by the writ petition still remain open. When asked why the order was being revoked, TCS' counsel cited the woman's pregnancy as the reason for its decision and called it an exceptional case. The court had on January 13 granted her interim relief by restraining the company from removing her. TCS responded to the latest development stating in a press release that it was unaware of the fact that the woman employee was pregnant during the exit process.  "Considering this statement made by her in the Affidavit before the Madras High Court, TCS, while disputing that the employees are workmen within the industrial disputes act, decided to revoke the letter relieving Miss Riya(name changed), as an exceptional case, in line with its practice of not relieving any employees during pregnancy," said a press release by TCS. Read Madras HC stays TCS from retrenching woman employeeTweetFollow @thenewsminute
