The News Minute | February 27, 2015 | 06.20 pm ISTMore protests followed against Puliyur Murugesan, a Tamil writer over his book after members of different Kongu Vellalar community organisations damaged public buses in Karur. Over 300 persons from the district participated in a joint meeting to discuss the controversy around a short story which featured in a book written by Murugesan, reported New Indian Express. After a road-roko , copies of the pages from the book were burnt and a petition was submitted to the Collector seeking action against the writer, said the report. However, despite discussions with the SP in the area, Joshi Nirmal Kumar who assured action after proper investigation, a section of the crowd pelted stones on two government buses , said the report. Two more buses were vandalised and windshields damaged. However, the leaders of the protest have denied their involvement in any destruction. The writer himself, is currently recuperating in a hospital after severe injuries after an attack by a gang which entered his house and beat him over the contents of a short story in his book which had offended a dominant community in their village.Read Incest plot gets a Tamil writer physically assaultedTweetFollow @thenewsminute
