Pachaiyappa vs Presidency student gang-war spills over to EMU trains, 11 injured

The gang-wars between students of Pachaiyappas College and Presidency College showed its ugly head again on Tuesday afternoon in Chennai after violence between them left 11 people including a 19-year-old bystander injured.

According to The News Indian Express, the incident happened around 3:40pm, and the injured were treated at Parvathy Hospital in Thiruninravur. Some of them were shifted to another hospital in the evening.

The New Indian Express reports that the fight between the two gangs happened between Nimilichery and Thiruninravur at Integral Coach Factory. During the fight, a resident of Kadambathur received a knife injury and a student of Ambedkar Government Arts College was also injured.

Three separate groups of students from Pachiyappa college, about 25 of them, entered the coach at different stations in which the Presidency students were travelling. When the train reached Ambattur station, there was a heated argument between the rival groups which led to the violent fight.

Moreover, two window panes were also broken. When the train reached Thruninravur, the attackers fled and the passengers pulled the train’s emergency chain.
