Opposition backed bandh in Tamil Nadu against Karnataka's decision to build dam

The News Minute| March 28, 2015| 2.00 pm ISTAn opposition backed shutdown called by various farmer's organisations in Tamil Nadu on Saturday to protest against Karnataka's decision to build a dam across the Cauvery river at Mekedatu is underway peacefully without any untoward incident.Though the protest is being supported by political parties like the DMK, the bandh did not disrupt public life much in state capital, Chennai. Buses plying to Karnataka have been stopped. Almost all the shops in Thanjavur and several other districts are closed.Meanwhile, Cable operators in Karnataka blacked out more than 40 Tamil channels till 4 pm. A message was displayed informing the viewers about the same.Tweet
