The only accused in rape case of two minors girls in Coimbatore commits suicide

The News Minute | February 20, 2015 | 1.10 pm ISTAn accused in the rape of two minor girls in Coimbatore reportedly committed suicide on Wednesday as the police were in a look out for him. The Hindu reports that S. Muthupalani, 52, was found lying along the Pottapatti-Vellimalai Road around 8 p.m, and that he died soon after. According to the report Kottapatty police said that Muthupalani consumed poison after his son Arunkumar, in whose house he took refuge after escaping from police, shouted at him after seeing the news report about his father's alleged role in the crime.Muthupalani, who worked as a cook at a restaurant in Coimbatore, had allegedly raped two minor girls aged 10 and 12 recently.Reports say that he had married twice, he divorced his first wife and his second wife had abandoned him.The police said that the rape case would be closed as the only accused in the case is dead.Tweet
