‘No such thing as presumptive loss’: Congress wants Vinod Rai to apologise

Written by : TNM Staff

With the Special Central Bureau of Investigating Court declaring all the accused in the 2G case as not guilty, Congress leaders quickly declared that they wanted former Comptroller and Auditor General Vinod Rai to apologise.

Manish Tewari, Congress leader, was one of the first ones to tweet about this. “Mr VINOD RAI Former C&G must Apologise to the nation for throwing presumptive sensational Corrosive numbers into public discourse. He was author of imbecile 1.76 thousand crore loss theory that I had destroyed during my cross examination of Rai in JPC. court has affirmed JPC Report," he wrote on Twitter.

As CAG, Vinod Rai tabled the report in Parliament that estimated the alleged scam led to a presumptive revenue loss of Rs 1.76 lakh crore, due to non-auctioning, to the exchequer.

Senior Congress leader Kapil Sibal told mediapersons on Thursday that the entire case was a “scam by Vinod Rai.”

“I had always maintained that this was no scam. It was a scam by former CAG Vinod Rai. We stand vindicated ... The telecom sector is in dire straits thanks to Vinod Rai and then leaders of opposition in the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha,” he said.

“Vinod Rai’s presumptive allegations have been proved wrong. He should apologise,” said Veerappa Moily, another Congress leader, after the 2G verdict was declared.

It wasn’t just Congress leaders who demanded Vinod Rai apologise. Other users also took to Twitter on Thursday to ask the ex-CAG to apologise and explain what he meant by his presumptive loss statement in his report.
