No breakthrough in investigations into Hindu Munnani leader's murder in Chennai

Written by : TNM

The News Minute| June 23, 2014| 9.40 am ISTThere has been no headway in investigations into the murder of a Hindu Munnani leader named Suresh Kumar in Chennai last week. The CCTV cameras near the spot have been unable to capture any footage of significance. Suresh Kumar was hacked to death by a gang of people on Thursday night. Police have inspected tapes of his speech in December 2013 and suspect that some 'inflammatory' remarks made could have got him enemies. Chennai police have questioned some people with Al Umma in connection with the murder. The BJP however has refused to buy police theory that CCTV cameras have not recorded anything crucial to the case. “Even for petty offences, the police immediately release the images recorded in the CCTV cameras. But they have not done so in such a major case. The police version that the incident was not recorded in the camera is really surprising,” said Veda Subramaniam, national council member of the BJP told the New Indian Express.
