Meet the man who could be the strongest contender against Jayalalithaa in upcoming by-polls

Written by : TNM

On Wednesday, DMK backed out from the upcoming RK Nagar by-poll scheduled for June 27 in which Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa is likely to contest.Though the DMK shows no signs of taking on Jayalalithaa who is expected to sweep the by-polls in Chennai's RK Nagar constituency, one man well known for his activism across Tamil Nadu has decided to take the bull by its horns and plans to take on the Chief Minister in his own distinctive style.Eighty-two-year old social activist KR Ramaswamy or “Traffic" Ramaswamy is famously known for being responsible for filing over 400 PILS over two decades bringing positive changes across the state. “I will be meeting Kalaignar( Karunanidhi) today. Tomorrow, I will meet the BJP and EVKS Elanogovan,” said Traffic Ramaswamy while speaking to The News Minute. Though he seems eager to take on Jayalalithaa in the upcoming by-poll he said that he would seek the cooperation of the party leaders before making a decision. “I will first seek their opinion in making a common candidate stand,” he said. According to the report, the CPM is expected to make a decision on contesting in the by-polls in a meeting on June 3 and the BJP remains reluctant. "Traffic" Ramaswamy earlier contested at the Srirangam constituency vacated by J Jayalalithaa and emerged with the highest number of votes for an independent candidate. Read Traffic Ramaswamy - one man in Chennai everyone needs to know about
