Medicos of DD College find respite; options to move to other colleges

The News Minute | August 27, 2014 | 08:00 am ISTA decision to set up a cell by the TN Dr. MGR Medical University to help students move into parallel paramedical courses was reached after a meeting at the Secretariat yesterday. The cell will be set up on Wednesday. According to The Hindu, a six-hour meeting between parents and students of DD College along with State Health minister C. Vijaya Baskar, Higher Education minister P. Palaniappan and other officials resulted in the decision to provide students with a few options.Options provided to students to relocate include paramedical courses at various State universities including University of Madras, Bharathiar University and Annamalai University.The meeting was arranged after a series of protests by students of the 2011-12 and 2013-14 batch demanded that the government provide them alternative courses in other colleges.
