Madras HC directs TN govt to take action on maanja usage

ISTGive all details related to the use of maanja in kites and also provide the precautions that have been taken against it , said the Madras High Court to the Tamil Nadu government. Based on a PIL which asked for allocation of public spaces for flying kites in the city, the fire Bench, of Chief Justice SK Kaul and Justice TS Sivagnanam said that all action must be executed in two weeks, reported The Hindu.In March, a four year-old boy was grievously injured on his nose when a manjaa kite thread became entangled around his face when he was on bike in Chennai. The petitioner said that instead of a partial or a total ban, allowance of public spaces and play grounds to fly the kites should be made, said the report.
