Putting an end to speculations about his elder son M K Alagiri's return to party fold, DMK chief M Karunanidhi today came down heavily on him for his continuing tirade against the party despite having been expelled and asked party workers to ignore him.

Referring to Alagiri's reported critical comments about the alliance forged by DMK and Congress, Karunanidhi said it was "totally unacceptable".

"He has been using my name for his betrayals and it is condemnable. I appeal to party cadres not to consider his comments. Ignore him and his remarks," he said in a statement.

Going on to praise Stalin, the DMK patriarch said: "It will not be an exaggeration to say that the Namakku Naame campaign by Stalin has instilled confidence among various sections of people who are expressing their support and love for the party. I heartily congratulate Stalin for a successful journey," Karunanidhi said in his party organ 'Murasoli' here.

In a tweet on the campaign's conclusion, Karunanidhi had greeted his son, calling him 'Thalapathi' (Commander).
