DMK chief and former CM of Tamil Nadu M Karunanidhi is recovering well and will be discharged soon from the hospital, said a release from Kauvery hospital on Wednesday.

The short press release was accompanied with an image, in which Karunanidhi is seen sitting and watching television along with the team of doctors and a nurse.

The release said that he is “recovering well” and that he will be “discharged from the hospital after the completion of the course of antibiotics” that he is under for his infection.

On December 16, about a week after Karunanidhi was discharged from the Kauvery Hospital in Chennai, he was re-admitted to the same hospital. He was admitted to the hospital in Alwarpet in Chennai just after 11pm.

A press release from the hospital had said, “DMK President and former CM of TN, Dr Kalaignar Karunanidhi has been readmitted at Kauvery hospital, today with breathing difficulty due to throat and lung infection. The treatment has been initiated to clear his infection.”

Sources in the DMK told TNM that there was nothing precarious about his situation.
