The News Minute| September 4, 2014| 9.05 am ISTDMK chief Karunanidhi is amongst the worst performing members in the Tamil Nadu Assembly House with an attendance of just 3 per cent. While Sarath Kumar, actor-politician who heads All India Samathuva Makkal Katchi (AISMK) has only 46 per cent attendance, but has more than made up for it by being the top performer in the House, said the Times of India(Chennai edition, dated Sept 4th). He has asked 2,609 questions and interacted in discussions regarding the Governor’s address on the budget and grants, said the report. According to data from PRS Legislative Research between March 2011 and April 2014, 38 per cent of the MLAs with 100 per cent attendance are from the AIADMK. However, it was not quite the same record in the past, as leader of AIADMK TN CM J Jayalalithaa hardly ever attended the assembly when DMK chief Karunanidhi was in power. She would only come in to sign the register before leaving.
