Karti PC says party doesn’t rely on actors, Khushbu hits back "party not dependent on Karti or his dad"

After Karti Chidambaram, Congress party member on Tuesday called Khushbu “one of the 60 party spokespersons” and said that Congress “does not rely on actors”, actor Khushbu was quick to respond by saying that the party is not dependent on Karti or his dad PC.

Khushbu told NIE, “Yes, the Congress is not dependent on actors like me. But Karti should understand that the party does not depend on PC or his son Karti as well. Each one of us is relying on the Congress.”

Defending actor Khushbu, Congress State President Elangovan said that as Karti does not stay in Tamil Nadu for more than a day or two and is always abroad for business trips, he may not be aware of what is happening in Tamil Nadu, according to NIE.

He also added, “I don’t take Karti’s comments seriously.”

This is the first time a new member has openly commented about the former Union minister and senior party leader Chidambaram. Elangovan and another Union Minister GK Vasan have had issues with Chidambaram but have never openly attacked him.

Khushbu has been repeatedly attacked by Elangovan’s detractors since she joined the Congress party.

Karti had said six months back at a meeting that Congress is following the cinema culture of Dravidian parties instead of focussing on individuals who could help in economic development. Elangovan did not respond to those comments back then.
