It was an announcement that his fans had been waiting for years. And superstar Rajinikanth did not disappoint them. On Sunday morning, Rajinikanth announced his entry into politics and the formation of his own political party.
One of the first to react to Rajinikanth's dramatic announcement was none other than actor Kamal Haasan.
Kamal tweeted, "I congratulate my brother Rajini for his social consciousness and his political entry. Welcome welcome."
Like Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan too has spoken about his entry into politics. The two stars who have ruled Tamil cinema for decades, became vocal with their views on politics after the demise of J Jayalalithaa.
Kamal Haasan has met various political leaders like Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the last few months, discussing his entry ino politics.
While, Rajinikanth has taken the plunge and made a formal announcement, all eyes are now set on what Kamal Haasan will decide. 2018 promises to be an exciting year for Tamil Nadu politics. Here are a few other reactions:
