The News Minute | March 6, 2015 | 5.00 pm ISTAll India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam Chief J Jayalalitha has removed the state Agriculture Minister SS Krishnamurthy from his party post as the Tiruvannamalai south district secretary of the party. Krishnamurthy is a representative of the Kalasappakkam constituency in Tiruvannamali. This action came after allegations sprang against Krishnamurthy that his aides abetted the suicide of an executive engineer who worked with the Agricultural Department. The state’s Congress party president E.V.K.S. Elangovan even demanded a CBI probe into the death of this officer. He also accused the Minister's associates of pressuring the alleged victim to resorting to suicide, a report that appeared on The Hindu says. The AIADMK chief Jayalalithaa though did not cite any reason for his removal. She also added that the current Information Technology Minister Mukkur N Subramaniam would for the time being hold the additional charge of the Tiruvannamalai south district secretary till the party organizational elections are held or another person is appointed for the post. She has also relived Krishnamurthy from being in charge of elections in charge of the Kanyakumari and Karnataka district unit.In a brief statement issued by Jayalalitha, she “requested” all the party men to co-operate with the new secretary.Reports suggest that Krishnamurthy will most likely lose his cabinet post also. This is not the first time that AIADMK is doing something like this. Ministers facing similar allegations were first dropped from their party posts, before being dropped out from the cabinet.Krishnamurthy has been sacked by Jayalalitha twice, while she was the Chief Minister. Recently a councilor and taxation and finance committee chairman K Santhanam was expelled from the party for indulging in `anti-party' activities.Media reports also hint that such actions will follow in plenty, as elections are around the corner.Tweet
