After Tamil magazine Ananda Vikatan and DMK leader M Karunanidhi recently, social activist K R ‘Traffic’ Ramaswamy is the next target of Chief Minister Jayalalithaa. She has filed a defamation case against him for allegedly spreading messages about distribution of flood relief material on a mobile messaging app.

A case was filed by city public prosecutor ML Jegan on Monday at the principal sessions’ court. The complaint specifies that Ramaswamy had written a defamatory post against Chief Minister Jayalalithaa and her government and posted it on a social networking group, according to TOI.

The complaint reads, it is “per se defamatory, scandalous, disparaging, insinuating and highly provocative. It was not in good faith, mischievous and harmed the reputation of the CM.”

On November 24, Jayalalithaa had filed criminal defamation cases against DMK chief M Karunanidhi and the editor of Ananda Vikatan for allegedly publishing defamatory articles against her.

Article titled ‘Manthri-Tanthri’ in Tamil magazine Ananda Vikatan was allegdly maligning the reputation of the CM and a case was filed against editor R Kannan and printer Madhavan.

An article published on November 21 in DMK mouthpiece Murasoli talking about the achievements of the Government in the past four years led to filing of case against Karunanidhi and the Tamil daily's editor, printer and publisher of 'Murasoli, S Selvam.

In July 2015 itself, she had filed a defamation case against a Tamil magazine Nakkeeran and also an online portal Rediff.com for writing about her health conditions. She had also filed a defamation case against BJP leader Subramanian Swamy for a ‘malicious tweet’.

Till July 2015, she had filed about 112 defamation cases against media and rival leaders, according to TOI.
