Ilayaraja sends notice to director Shankar on copyright issue

The News Minute | January 3, 2015 | 08:30 am ISTMusic director Ilayaraja has sent out a legal notice to director Shankar over a song in a recently released movie Kappal citing violation of copyrights. The notice has been sent by the music director for “remixing and rearranging” the song , Ooru Vittu Ooru Vandhu song in the new movie without permission, reported The Hindu. According to Advocate SK Raghunathan who sent the notice on Ilayaraja’s behalf,Shankar and Agi Music Pvt Ltd had entered into an agreement over acquiring the licence for remixing the song. However, they claim that Agi Music has no ownership on the song. Kappal has been directed by one of Shankar’s assistants. Raghunathan urged director Shankar to either pay royalty for the song, or stop using it. TweetFollow @thenewsminute
