Governor's praise for Jayalalithaa draws flak from opposition parties

The News Minute | February 18, 2015 | 09.15 am ISTTamil Nadu Governor K Rosaiah’s praise for former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa during his address to the State assembly did not go down well with opposition parties DMK chief criticised the governor saying that It is quite amusing and strange that a person who has been awarded a fine of Rs 100 crore and a four year jail term has been praised in Assembly," reported PTI."The address was like an advertisement listing out the projects taken up by the government so far. There is no mention of projects and policies the government intend to initiate during the coming year," he said.Even PMK leader S Ramadoss criticised the address saying that the dignity of the Assembly has fallen. "The objective of Governor's address is to highlight the proposed projects to be taken up by the Government in the coming financial year. But, there was no mention of projects to address the issues faced by Tamil Nadu," he added. The Governor in his address had praised Jayallaithaa for her efforts in securing the state’s side in river water disputes while focusing on governance like law and order. TweetFollow @thenewsminute
