Frustrated with failed treatments, parents kill mentally ill son in Coimbatore

A 41-year-old man who was suffering from a mental illness was murdered by his parents in Coimbatore on Saturday morning.
 
The parents approached the Village Adminstrative Office on Saturday and said that they wanted to be taken to the Selur police station. VAO  asked for the reason, they said that they had murdered their son.
 
Sulur police said that K Rajendran's parents shifted with him after his wife abondoned him. They were handloomers and were living in Udumalaipettai. They tried their best to overcome his mental health issues.
 
A clinical psychiatist told The New Indian Express that Rajendran might be suffering from bipolar disorder. Residents said that he was often unpredictable and complex. They said that he was an alcoholic and abusive husband as well as a loving father. A policeman said, "He was suffering from some mental issue. Residents say that he was psychotic, and would express extreme emotions, be it joy or anger," reported by TNIE.
 
Sulur police stated that they did not take much details from K Rajendran's parents, M Krishnasamy (70) and K Mahalakshmi (60). They said that they were depressed that all the treatments had failed for his sickness.
