Two country-made bombs and an equal number of petrol bombs have been recovered on Tuesday from the venue of a meeting organised by the ruling All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam in Madurai.

While two bombs were detected before the meeting began Tuesday night at Jaihindpuram, the other set was found after the function.

None of them exploded, police in Madurai said.

Earlier on Sunday, crude bombs had been hurled at the offices of Tamil Nadu minister Sellur K Raju and the AIADMK here in two separate incidents. No one was injured in the incident.

Raju had then blamed his political opponents for hurling of bombs.

Tuesday's meeting was organised by Raju, who is representing Madurai West in the assembly.

The Hindu also reported the incident quoting a police official saying this might be a result of ‘intra-party squabbling’.
