Former Minister Alagiri appears in a magistrate court for 2011 assault case

The News Minute | December 17, 2014 | 10.50 am ISTFormer Union Minister M.K. Alagiri appeared before a magistrate court in Melur, Madurai in a 2011 case relating to the assault of a revenue official. Alagiri and the DMK party men while campaigning for the election in 2011, had taken objection to their campaigning being videographed by electoral staff led by Tahsildar Kalimuthu, The Hindu reported.It was alleged that the party men roughed up the Tahsildar and a case was registered against Alagiri and 20 others. Judicial Magistrate Mahendra Boopathi, after reading out the sections under which the case has been registered, posted the matter to January 9.
