However, the police had detained the juvenile who was a former BPO employee, late on Monday.

Vinodhini, the deceased had a boyfriend who was five years younger to her but did not tell her about it. When she came to know about his age, she broke the relationship but the boy kept pestering her to continue the relationship. Because of which, her parents sent her to their relative’s house in North Beach, according to The Times of India.

On Monday, the boy asked Vinodhini to come to a commercial complex as he asked her to return a mobile phone that he had gifted her. After an argument, the boy assaulted the girl which led to injuries on her face and neck.  When she fainted, the boy strangled her to death and put her inside the bathroom of a tailor’s shop.

Police arrested the boy by tracking a mobile phone from which he had called Vinodhini.  He told the police that he just saw the body when it was found. Later, he was charged with murder and sent to a juvenile home, according to Times of India.
