Exclusive: Sasikala says ‘unruly elements,’ not AIADMK attacked media

She’s the most watched personality in Tamil Nadu right now, and VK Sasikala is no longer playing defence. Following a rousing speech to her followers where she levelled fresh allegations against OPS, Sasikala said she did not regret calling the Legislature Party meeting that started it all, in an exclusive interview to TNM.

“There was a lot of change in Panneerselvam’s behaviour which made me take the step. When Duraimurugan said in the Assembly that 89 MLAs would support him, OPS did not get up to tell him he doesn’t need the DMK’s favour becuase we have majority. He didn’t, and this made us suspect him,” Sasikala reiterated.

TNM also asked Sasikala about the attacks on media by AIADMK persons - particularly, the stone pelting that happened at Koovathur on Saturday. Claiming that she did not know about it, Sasikala said, “Amma has always told us that we should follow Army discipline, and that’s what the cadre follow even today. Some unruly elements must have mixed with our men, who indulged in such activities (stone pelting).”

When asked about how she plans to deal with the public anger against her, Sasikala claimed that the people are with her. “As far as I am concerned, I will do what Amma was doing to help the people,” she said.
