Written by : TNM

AIADMK party organ, "Namadhu MGR" has criticised the decision by the Karnataka government to file an appeal in the Supreme Court against Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa’s acquittal in a disproportionate wealth case calling the move “shameful”.The article appeared on the front page of the party paper on Tuesday after the Karnataka government made the decision following a cabinet meeting, reported The Times of India. It also said that the people of Tamil Nadu “had no doubt that 'Puratchi Thalaivi Amma’(Jayalalithaa) will shine like gold refined in fire again by proving that she is innocent”.Stating that the Karnataka government’s move was something that had never occurred before in history in issues where cases are transferred to another state, it said that the government’s move could affect the federal system. The article also attacked opposition parties, the DMK and PMK. Referring to “evil forces” that had egged on Karnataka to go in for an appeal , the article said that the "forces" were trying to make a comeback on the political scene as they would not be able to confront Jayalalithaa in a regular competition, said the report. It also attacked PMK stating that the party gave more importance to the wealth case than the Cauvery water row between neighbour states, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. After days of indecision, the Karnataka government's decision came amidst heavy pressure after parties like DMK who themselves had announced a plan to submit a Special Leave Petition in the Supreme Court regarding the acquittal in the case.
