Drunk man tries to break open ATM near Coimbatore, gets detained

A person, who allegedly attempted to break open and loot an ATM at Thudiyalur on the outskirts of Coimbatore, was taken into custody on Monday, police said.

Some persons, who came to withdraw money from the ATM in Anganur area this morning, found a person lying unconscious in the ATM's cabin, police said.

Police managed to revive him and on questioning, he was identified as Rangasamy from nearby area.

He is said to have confessed that under the influence of liquor, he attempted to break open the ATM last night and the door automatically closed, trapping him inside, they said.

Police have taken him into custody.
