Door-to-door campaign for digital era: AIADMK cadres use iPads for poll campaign

Written by : TNM Staff

As Tamil Nadu gets set for the bye-elections on November 19, political parties are out on the streets once more, canvassing for votes. But in digital era, the ruling AIADMK has taken door-to-door campaigning to another level.

The party’s IT wing has introduced for the first time, a technology supported campaign in the three constituencies of Thanjavur, Aravakurichi and Thiruparankundram. More than 100 members belonging to AIADMK’s IT wing go from door-to-door showcasing the 100-day achievements of Jayalalalithaa’s government using an iPad. The campaign, which began earlier this week, will continue until the end of the polls.

The three constituencies go to polls on November 19. Polls to the Aravakurichi and Thanjavur assembly constituencies, which had originally been scheduled for May 16, had been cancelled by the Election Commission after huge sums of money were seized by officials, while the EC had called for bye-election to Thiruparankundram assembly constituency after AIADMK’s SM Seenivel died on May 25.  Bye-elections for the three constituencies will be held on November 19.
