Written by : TNM

A state that has been in virtual lull ever since the step-down of AIADMK chief J Jayalalithaa from her post as Chief Minister, projects and events planned have been in limbo until now.Even as Saturday saw the return of Jayalalithaa as TN’s CM, the state machinery has swung back in motion with the initiation of trial run of 45 new Amma canteens. Expected to be opened on Sunday, the 45 canteens will add to the already existing 207 canteens in 15 zones in the city, reported The Hindu. While the AIADMK is busy yet again preparing for Jayalalithaa’s comeback in a by-election which is expected to be in a Chennai constituency, the DMK on the other hand is planning a large public meeting in Madurai in Sunday as a part of the party’s first campaign program. To be held in Madurai, around five lakh party men and supporters are expected, said another report. To be held in the absence of party leader, M Karunanidhi or elder brother and former south zone organising secretary, MK Alagiri, the rally has been planned to be held at Othakadai, Madurai titled ‘Makkal Oorani, Kelvi Ketkum Perani’ (A rally to ask questions).
