DMK chief takes a dig on new announcements made by AIADMK

Written by : PTI

DMK President M Karunanidhi today charged Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa with making new announcements at the last minute only "to hoodwink the people of Tamil Nadu" and raised doubts on their implementation saying they were launched in a "hurry".

"At a time when the present government's tenure is slated to end, Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa has made a series of announcements and launched new projects in a hurry. The value of projects that were announced in a span of five days was Rs 15,192 crore," the DMK patriarch said, in his party organ 'Murasoli'.

"When will these projects be implemented? Were the details regarding fund allocation included in the interim budget? Did it get passed in the Assembly? Or were they announced just to hoodwink the people?" Karunanidhi asked.

Referring to state government's decision to pay three per cent subsidy to micro, small and medium enterprise units that were affected during the torrential rains in December, he asked "What was the reason to issue such an order after a gap of three months?".

"It could have been announced in the interim budget or even after the request made by the Opposition parties to provide a subsidy to the MSMEs in the Assembly. Why there was such a delay?" he said.

He also charged Jayalalithaa with making new announcements "at the last minute" and alleged that it was only "to hoodwink the people of Tamil Nadu."

Karunanidhi appealed to DMK cadres to highlight the facts behind the series of announcements made by the AIADMK government, during the party campaigns.
