The News Minute | June 1, 2014 | 6:10 PM IST Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa on Sunday said people who expected progress with the change of government at the Centre are disappointed after the 50 paise hike in diesel prices. In a statement here, Jayalalithaa urged the central government to withdraw the diesel price raise, saying it will have an inflationary effect. She also urged the Bharatiya Janata Party-led central government to not follow the wrong economic policies of the erstwhile Congress-led government.According to her, the oil pricing mechanism should be changed by factoring the cost of crude - both imported and domestically explored - and its refining costs. She said if this method is followed, the prices of petroleum products would come down and inflation would be contained.IANS
