Defamation cases against Karunanidhi and Ananda Vikatan magazine for “maligning” Jayalalithaa

Two defamation cases have been filed by lawyers linked to the ruling party on Tuesday for authoring and publishing articles against Tamil Nadu CM Jayalalithaa. DMK leader M Karunaniidhi and Murasoli S Selvam, the editor of the paper Murasoli and R Kannan and Madhavan of Tamail weekly Ananda Vikatan are facing fresh defamation cases at the Principal Sessions Court, according to TNIE.

 The petition was filed for carrying an article ‘The Achievements of the Government in Four Years’ in Ananda Vikatan and the complaint was filed against R Kannan, editor and Madhavan, of Ananda Vikatan. The complaint was filed by City Prosecutor M L Jegan.

Another petition was filed against the author of the article M Karunanidhi and Selvam, the editor, printer and publisher of the DMK mouthpiece Murasoli.

According to the complaint, both the articles in Murasoli and Ananda Vikatan maligned the name and fame of the Chief Minister in the discharge of her public function, according to TNIE report.
