The News Minute | April 5, 2015 | 11:00 am ISTFormer Agriculture Minister Krishnamoorthy and Chief Engineer of the Agriculture department, Senthil Kumar have been arrested late Saturday night in connection with the suicide of senior engineer Muthukumarasamy.“My dad used to receive a lot of calls from the Chief Engineer in February,” said Sethuraman Vinodh, the younger son of Muthukumarasamy who is currently working in Chennai. Muthukumarasamy had committed suicide in front of a train in Tirunelveli on February 20. Howeer, soon after rumours began over external pressure exerted on the engineer from Krishnamoorthy, the minister in turn was dropped from the Tamil Nadu government.“Back then ,we didn’t even know the Chief Engineer’s name,” said Sethuraman explaining that his father normally never discussed work at home.“The arrest itself is like a shock to me,” he said adding that he had come to know of the arrest from a friend on Sunday morning. The arrest comes amidst protests from political parties demanding for an independent investigation by the CBI. However, according to Sethuraman, the CB-CID has been making enquiries with the family over the investigation.Read After days of protest in Tamil Nadu, former minister finally arrested in officer suicide case
