Cyclone Fengal: Chennai airport temporarily suspends services

Indigo airlines had also suspended services to prioritise the safety of passengers and crew, the Chennai Airport Authority said in a statement.

The Airport Authority of India (AAI) has temporarily suspended services at the Chennai Airport on November 30, owing to bad weather conditions caused by the approaching cyclone Fengal. Arrival and departure of all domestic and international flights have been cancelled till 7pm on Saturday.

Earlier, on Saturday, 22 flights had been cancelled. Indigo airlines had also suspended services to prioritise the safety of passengers and crew, the Chennai Airport Authority said in a statement.

Cyclone Fengal was expected to make landfall on the coastline between Puducherry and Chennai. However, independent weather blogger Raja Ramasamy on Saturday took to X and said that the point of landfall has become unclear although the cyclone is 100 Kms away from the coastline.

Tamil Nadu Weather Man Pradeep John also took to X and said that the landfall could be pushed to Sunday, December 1.
