Crude bombs hurled at houses of AIADMK functionaries

Early Sunday morning, unidentified persons reportedly hurled 'crude bombs' at houses of AIADMK functionaries at Kazhugumalai and Tuticorin, about 160 km from Madurai, police said.

The motorcycle of a Muthuraj, an AIADMK functionary, was destroyed when a petrol bomb was hurled at his house around 1 am on Sunday.

AIADMK workers in the area and residents staged a demonstration demanding arrest of the culprits.

In another incident at Rajagopal Nagar in Tuticorin, a petrol bomb was hurled at the house of AIADMK functionary Chinnadurai at around 2:30 am.

The shed in front of his house was destroyed and his two-wheeler was also destroyed, police said, adding, a two-wheeler of another functionary Pitchiah was also damaged.
