Coimbatore Hindu Munnai murder: Police detain three for violence during Sasikumar's funeral

A month after the violence following the murder of a Hindu Munnai spokesperson in Coimbatore, police have detained three people on Thursday under the Goondas Act.

Karthick, (30), was detained at Vellore central prison for causing damage to the textile shop at Thudiyalur. Pradeep Kumar, (24) and Pradeep Kumar, (27), were detained at Trichy central prison for setting fire and causing damage to the police vehicle and shops at Thudiyalur area, as stated in the press release.

On September 23, 2016, Hindu Munnani functionaries had declared a bandh in Coimbatore and a few other areas. Several mosques and state buses were attacked. Earlier, police had arrested many people for damaging public property and resorting to violence.

However, police have still not been able to arrest the accused in the murder case of Hindu Munnani spokesperson C Sasikumar. They have released various sketches with the help of eyewitnesses and CCTV footage.
