Chennai-Mangalore Express derails near Poovanur, 39 injured

Atleast 39 passengers of Chennai Egmore- Mangalore Central Express were injured as four coaches of the train derailed near Poovanur railway station in Tiruchi Division at 2 am on Friday.
The railway officials rushed to the spot and relief operations are going on. Derailed coaches were removed from the tracks.
The injured passengers are being treated as out-patients at Vridhachalam government hospital.
Railways department has organised special buses to move the stranded passengers to Salem Tiruchi and Villupuram
 
Following the train accident, all trains heading to Chennai Egmore from Tamil Nadu have been stopped.
