A 45-year-old man, Natarajan, has been arrested for stabbing his father, Rajendran, who had been bedridden for a month due to a leg injury.

The incident happened on August 30 near Thiru Vi Ka nagar, Chennai.

Though Rajendran was rushed to a hospital, he was declared dead.

Three days before the incident, Natarajan’s wife, Ezhila Mary, had gone to Velankanni with their two children. Before leaving, she had asked Natarajan to take care of his father.

When Ezhila returned home on Sunday morning, she found the house unclean and noticed that Rajendran had soiled the bed as he was unable to move around. She scolded Natarajan for failing to take proper care of his father.

Police told TNM that an argument broke out between Natarajan and Rajendran. As the argument escalated, Natarajan allegedly stabbed his father with a knife.

The police have registered a case under Section 103(1) — Punishment for Murder — of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, and arrested Natarajan.
