The News Minute| September 10, 2014| 03.30 pm ISTWhen it rains in Chennai, it’s usually a cause for joy.It would not have been so for six train commuters in Chennai on Tuesday but for a dog that saved their lives, reported The Times of India. Six train commuters who had detrained from the Gummidipoondi-Chennai Central local train almost stepped into a puddle of water, when a dog started barking to warn them. When the passengers paid no heed to the dog, it leaped into the water and instantly turned lifeless, said TOI.Commuters and passers-by then noticed the high-voltage wire lying in the water and were taken aback by the dog’s sacrifice. The dog, however, has left behind a litter of pups, just 10-days-old. The pups were found by the railway officials who then handed them over to Blue Cross. As people heard about the dog’s death and the pups left behind, many came forward to adopt the pups, and soon enough all of them were adopted, said the report.
