Chennai cops handing out free helmets this week

The News Minute | January 12, 2015 | 08.40 am ISTScared the cops might catch hold of you and hand a fine for not complying with traffic rules?As a part of the Road Safety Week, the Chennai City Traffic Police has started handing out helmets to motorists riding without the protective headgear, reported The New Indian Express.The campaign which began on Sunday was initiated across the city.According to traffic police, the plan is to distribute around 2000 helmets freely to two-wheeler riders not using a helmets on Monday. Other campaigns also have been planned in the city such as a competition for school children, a rally by students as well as a sand sculpture on the Marina beach. TweetFollow @thenewsminute
