CCTV footage goes viral; man surrenders in Kancheepuram hit-and-run case

Two days after a 21 year-old-woman was killed in a hit and run case in Kancheepuram, the cab driver responsible turned himself in .The surrender by a cab driver, Vinoth Kannan, occurred days after the CCTV footage of the incident was widely shared on Whatsapp. In the video of the incident which occurred at around 2.30 am in Kancheepuram town on Monday morning, the woman can be seen walking with her relatives and carrying her seven-month-old child, reported The News Indian Express.From the impact, the woman T Selvi, died on the spot, while the child escaped with small injuries.  The video clearly shows the black SUV hitting the woman even though the rest of the road remained deserted.The footage was recorded in a camera installed in a shop on the same road. Vinoth Kannan surrendered saying that it was out of his own will. However, some police officials said that the surrender was due to the tactful release of the CCTV footage which provoked a surrender, said the report.
