Cannot regulate TV channels content , says Madras HC on PIL

The News Minute | January 29, 2015 | 09.20 am ISTThe Madras High Court has dismissed a public interest litigation that called for control on content aired by private television channels. Saying that there was no doubt that TV channels telecast obscene and vulgar content, the first bench consisting of Chief Justice S K Kaul and Justice M M Sundresh said that such channels could not be stalled, reported The New Indian Express. The bench also said that what could be considered offensive or obscene was also a subjective issue. The PIL had been filed calling for a regulation to prohibit transmission of private TV chanels like Sun TV, Kalaignar TV and FTV via cable network. TweetFollow @thenewsminute
