The Madurai bench of the Madras High Court on Friday, dismissed the case filed by an elderly couple from Melur claiming actor Dhanush was their son and had ran away from the house when he was in Class 11.

Stating that the evidence that the couple, R. Kathiresan (65) and his wife, K Meenakshi (53), had submitted to the court was not sufficient, the judge quashed their appeal for a DNA test.

The couple had sent a legal notice to actor Dhanush on October 4, 2016, demanding that he provide them maintenance of Rs. 65,000 per month. In November, they had filed a case in the Melur court. The case that was filed in the Melur court has also been quashed.

The couple had alleged that the actor was their elder son, Kalaichelvan and was born to them in 1985 at the Rajaji Hospital in Madurai.

The couple has, in the past, claimed that they were burdened with debt and suffering from diseases and therefore approached the court for maintenance.

The two court-appointed doctors, who examined the body marks on Dhanush last month, stated that the alleged identification marks were not to be seen on his body. Dr M R Vairamuthu Raja, Dean of the Madurai Medical College (MMC), and Dr Meenakshi Sundaram, Vice Principal of MMC, stated in the report that no mole over the left collar bone or scar on the left elbow were seen.
