Baby dies in Chennai after falling from train

An 18-month-old baby died after falling from a moving train at the Mambalam railway station in Chennai on Monday morning at 5:30am.

The woman, Lakshmi with her husband Sundaravel and daughter Ega shree were travelling on the Mannai Express from Thanjavur to Mambalam. Police said that Lakshmi and her daughter fell from the train. The child died immediately. Lakshmi’s legs had gotten stuck between the platform and the train.

Police said that Lakshmi’s left leg and foot has been badly damaged and there are injuries on both her legs. She is currently admitted at Stanley Hospital in Chennai.
