In Amma's name: Coimbatore auto-driver charges Re 1 for all rides to celebrate Jaya's victory

Here’s a classic example of government scheme influencing society.

RM Mathivannam an auto driver from Singanallur in Coimbatore is charging Re 1 for every ride in Coimbatore on Monday as AIADMK chief J Jayalalithaa is swearing in as the Chief Minister for the second consecutive time.    

Talking to the reporters, Mathivannan said, “I have been a believer of Amma for the past 40 years and have also been working for AIADMK. Today Amma is swearing in for the second consecutive time so for all my costumers from today 6 am to evening 6pm, the auto charges will be Re.1 anywhere in Coimbatore.”

Since Monday morning, he has has had about 150 customers and he charged Re. 1 for every ride.
