‘AIADMK is a party of slaves,’ says expelled leader Sasikala Pushpa

Rajya Sabha MP Sasikala Pushpa called the AIADMK a “party of slaves”, more than a month after she was expelled from the Dravidian party for “anti-party activities”.

In an interview to Times of India’s Julie Mariappan, Sasikala Pushpa said, “…in the AIADMK, partymen and elected representatives are not allowed to speak to DMK members…It was painful that I could not reciprocate the greetings of DMK MPS when I was sworn in. AIADMK is a party of slaves. No member has the freedom to even interact with members of other parties.”  Sasikala was replying to whether she was friends with DMK MP Trichy Siva, with whom she had gotten into a scuffle at the Delhi Airport in late July. It was following this incident that she was expelled from the AIADMK.

While the expelled leader refused to divulge details about her next political step, she said, “I was treated badly by the leader, some associates and security guards. They wanted my resignation letter. I was harassed and I was in tears. They could have politely told me to resign.”

Reacting to the sexual harassment case filed by her domestic helps against her, her husband Lingeshwara Thilagam and son Pradeep Raja, Sasikala said the “poor girls” were “forced to give a complaint” against her and that the alleged incidents took place in 2011, five years before they went to the police.
