AIADMK objects to DMK’s poll questioning which promises the govt has delivered

Written by : TNM Staff

With less than a month to go for the assembly elections in Tamil Nadu, the ruling AIADMK on Monday approached the election commission to intervene in arch-rivals DMK’s poll campaign labelled as ‘Sonneengale, Senjeengala' (You promised, did you deliver?).

A party delegation led by AIADMK’s Legal Wing State Joint Secretary V.R. Thirunarayanan made a representation to the Chief Electoral Officer to stall the airing of such advertisements stating they ‘tarnish’ the image of the party and CM Jayalalithaa.

The party delegation claimed those ads also violated the prescribed advertisement code.

Reacting to the AIADMK’s compliant, Rajesh Lakhoni, Chief Electoral Officer told The Hindu that the Media Certification and Monitoring Committee will examine the ads.
