AIADMK announces candidates for Rajya Sabha elections

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa on Wednesday announced the AIADMK candidates for biennial Rajya Sabha elections that are to be held on June 11.

Addressing the elected members at the first session of the 15th Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly, the AIADMK supremo announced candidates for four seats - R.Vaithilingam, A.Navaneethakrishnan, A.Vijayakumar and S.R.Balasubramanian to be the candidates from AIADMK, tweeted the party's official twitter handle.

While R.Vaithilingam lost the assembly elections from the Orathanadu constituency, A.Navaneethakrishnan is a sitting member of Rajya Sabha from the party. S.R.Balasubramanian, a former Tamil Manila Congress leader who joined AIADMK in April has also been offered a seat to contest.

The biennial elections are to be held for six vacant seats after the term of six members of Rajya Sabha comes to an end on June 29.
