A three-month-old baby died in Ayanavaram in Chennai, after he fell out of an autorickshaw, which his father was driving. The child who was in his mother's arms dropped to the road after the auto jerked to avoid hitting a motorist, reports the Times of India.

According to reports, the auto driver Jagan was driving his 28-year-old wife Archana and son Yogeshraj to Villivakkam, where Archana's parents stay. They were on Tagore street when a biker suddenly overtook the autorickshaw. The biker suddenly slipped and fell in front of the vehicle Jagan was maneuvering. To avoid hitting the biker, Jagan then swerved the vehicle away from the fallen man.

While the biker was spared further harm, Archana lost balance in the back seat and the child that she was holding in her arms slipped and fell on the road.

The mother reportedly screamed for help and they rushed to where the child had fallen. Yogeshraj was unconscious and was had suffered severe injuries on his head and face. Passersby who saw the accident unfold helped rush the child to the Egmore Children's hospital, but he passed away on Saturday morning.

The Anna Nagar police have reportedly filed a case against the father under section 304 (A) of the IPC (death caused due to negligent riding).

This was not the only death on Chennai's roads over the last 24 hours. Seven people were reportedly killed in separate accidents. Amongst these, two college students who were riding back from Puducherry collided with a state-run bus and died on the spot in Mamallapuram, and a 24-year-old motorist collided with a lorry and died while heading to his shop in Red Hills.
