On completion of exams, a class XII student committed suicide by hanging at his house on Bajanai Koil Street, Bharathi Nagar, Selaiyur on Friday.
Police sources told The Hindu that R. Divakar, had been asking his father, Ramakrishnan, an employee of a private company, to buy him a high-end bike.
They had a disagreement over the issue and the boy went to his room.
On Saturday, his parents found him hanging from a ceiling fan and the Selaiyur police was informed.
The body was sent to the Chromepet GH for a post-mortem and a case has been registered by the Selaiyur police.
