The News Minute| December 22, 2014| 10.49 am ISTThe 152-year-old building in the High Court campus which houses the law college has to be vacated following huge cracks that has been developed on it after the metro rail work.A team of experts of the PWD and the Heritage Committee of the Madras High Court have submitted a report stating that the building is now unsafe and has to be vacated immediately to prevent “unforeseen eventshappenings,” Times of India reported.“The building can be put to use after restoration and conservation are completely done as per the recommendation of the heritage committee,” the committee said in its report.It is due to the deep excavation in the nearby metro construction site that the building has developed cracks, the report makes clear. It also held the metro work officials responsible for concealing the damage.Chennai Metro Rail Director R. Ramanathan said that they would take adequate measures if there was any problem.The High Court campus in Chennai has a many other heritage structures like the city civil courts, small causes courts.
